04 June - garden drama

1) Shock of the week: Someone ate Freddy. I was excitedly about to show off my only pet (apart from a few thousand compost worms) to a couple of friends, and then Freddy was… gone? What?

No more Freddy
No more Freddy

The only culprit I can think of are the magpies, but I actually thought he would be safe in the small garden pond. I even checked on him the day before, where he was well and busy. I havde decided to invest in Freddy 2 and Freddy 3 at some point, and ensure that they are in the deepest part of the pond and hopefully more safe from pointy beaks.

My biggest dream is that a frog of some sort will move into the pond, but so far mosquito larvae are the only ones that seem to have made the pond their habitat. At least in means that there is food available, if some of the bigger predators come by.

2) Currently choosing to ignore the "someone ate Freddy" reflection (Reflection: Source's way to - externally - reflect an emotional imbalance back to me) and instead focusing on a health related one: I am struggling with a cold / cough / flu thing for a week, and it is sticking around.

It shouldn't be a big surprise, as thinking back I have heard myself say "I just have a lot of things going on" and "May has been a bit chaotic. It is all good things, but just a bit much" quite a lot the past couple of weeks. So you know, I should have seen it coming. I didn't. And as it took me a good few weeks to walk into this one, it will take me a bit to walk out of it too. Phew.

3) I engaged in a bit of whimsey, by painting little foot prints on a stepping stone in my garden path. I have wanted to do this for the past year, it took me less than 10 minutes, and I already love it. I am choosing more 10 minutes-whimsies, please. Very open for suggestions.

I am growing a new type of pea this year, and the purple flowers are so so pretty!

And finally, thank you to myself for prioritising going on walks to pick wild flowers, so that I can make pretty bouquets with my garden flowers too.
